Katie Plays Posts

Super Meta Let’s Play Series!

So, since The Sims 4 Get Together expansion got pushed back a bit (until Dec 8, which is just AFTER my first Winter Vacation ends, go figure), I needed something to do. I mean, I still need to do the intro video for my Get Together Let’s Play but now I have plenty of time for that.

I mean, I needed something I can get a few videos out of before then, because my poor YouTube channel has been quiet for too long and BF4 doesn’t make for interesting videos. Anyway, I was watching some other Simmers, and I saw a comment that said something about how with the right skills, a Sim could Livestream video games.

I immediately thought about how awesome it would be if I went all Super Meta and made a Katie Plays sim, and make her work in tech support (which I do in real life), and game all day, and eventually live stream her games LIKE ME. It’s silly to tell a Sim to go play Sims Forever, and I totally do that in the first video!

Big Pharma

Many of the games that I play are odd little ones that don’t really have a storyline; puzzle games, simulations, etc. One that I picked up recently is Big Pharma, and I really like it. Here’s the official trailer for it:

The first part of the game is a bit of a logistics puzzle; you need to build your assembly lines to be as space efficient as you can, and properly utilize your ports for importing and outputting. Floor space gets spendy and some of the machines don’t like to cooperate with each other, so it’s fun to try to make sure your supply doesn’t stop when one machine takes longer than another, and that you’re not wasting space.

I’m Playing All the Battlefield 4!

If you’ve been following my tweets, you’ll see quite a few mentions about me dying in Battlefield 4, and lamenting that how even though I said I wanted to make some Sims 4 videos, all I’ve been doing is playing Battlefield. This is still super true.

Shortly after we started I put up a video showing all my deaths in one round, and it’s just sad. The video was shot the first time I tried to record a BF4 match and I had a technical difficulty, but I managed to salvage some of the footage at least. Death Montages are funny at least, even if they feature me.

Since then, I’ve taken to mostly streaming my BF4 time on Twitch. I’ve got a bunch of buddies that play it, and they are my ‘cohosts’ on it. Mostly it’s my boyfriend Savage McNavage, Gant, Rookie, and Ben, but the other day I was joined by Leprekawn from Cult of the Malformed Fork.

All the playing has made me ever so slightly better at Battlefield 4; now I can sometimes manage to kill people! But I still die all the fricken time. I just don’t know how people manage to spot me so quickly.

Anywho, if you want to see my sad stats you can check out my Battlelog profile. I like to play on the ATR Gameres Mixed Mode server so if you ever want to join me for some strange reason, that’s a good place to look. I’ll probably also accept your random friend request if you send one, but remember that I suck, so don’t be a jerk to me; you had fair warning!

Farms & Castles

So on Saturday, I accidentally wound up being stuck in a car for a grand total of just over 4 hours, unexpectedly. It’s a long story, but basically Google Maps sent us to the wrong city, so after driving an hour we realized we were an hour and a half from where we needed to be.

Luckily for me, I was the passenger and I filled most of that time playing games on my iPhone so I wouldn’t go insane. I spent a surprisingly long time playing Farms & Castles.

It’s a pretty straight-forward puzzle matching type game. Three bushes turn into a tree, three trees into a forest, three forests into a farm, and so on and so forth. You lose when you run out of space to put new things in.

Farms & Castles is everything a Freemium game should be, I’m pretty impressed by how unobtrusive it is compared to some other mobile games I play. You can spend some cash to buy magic orbs (they do things like clear a spot, transform stone/wood items, and act as a matching piece) if you really want to, but you can earn the gold to buy them in-game and it’s not really necessary to buy them. There is the occasional after you’ve made X amount of moves, but it’s not a video or anything like that, so it’s not really that annoying.

All in all, it’s a cute game (I like the graphics) that kills some time without annoying me. I love a game like that!
